Cultural Interlace
This project is a proposal for a cultural center that brings together tourists, pilgrims, and asylum seekers through programs and formal explorations, creating a clash of the old and the new in Capitoline Hill. Programmatically, the introduction of a contemporary art museum gives the opportunity to exhibit the most up-to-date works of Italian contemporary artists, forming a contrasting dialogue with the National Museum of Palazzo Venezia. Formally, the overlapping gesture of the three parts of the building, corresponding to the three occupant types, further pushes the spatial qualities that both directly and indirectly (through views) connects to the existing context.
